Painting with my iPhone

16 03 2009

A friend introduced me to a great little drawing app for the iPhone called brushes. I’ve tried other sketching apps but this one by far is the best.

This came out of a scribble. It reminds me of the “Thing” movie poster.

Some old dude.

Testing out my new Wacom.

20 08 2008

Well I just dove in without thinking and got one of those wacom tablets, you know the one with the screen that you can work directly on. It’s called the 12wx. So far it’s been great. The only issue I had to do a little research on was the video card. I already have a dual screen set up. The Tablet behaves like a another monitor. Initially I was just going to split the second screen using a DVI splitter. After reading some post in forums that was not the best idea. What I had to do was get a 2nd video card. I opted for a cheaper one (8600) than the one I have now (8800 GTX). the great thing abou this whole thing I learn something new, that you can install 2 different cards on your system. I thought they had to be identical, but that is only if your gunning for SLI or Crossfire. I just needed to run a tablet. I have to say that I also have a Wacom Intuos 3 6×8, that is what I was primarily using before now. Drawing and seeing what your drawing on the tablet needless to say feels so intuitive and natural, I think I’ll be posting my old Tablet on Ebay soon. Well here is my first quick sketch with it.

By the way I was just doodling, and this guy came out. He’s not someone I know or anything. I used the drawing to experiment with different coloured light sources at the end. I liked the way the Right side came out.. as for the other side – perhaps green wasn’t the greatest idea – but the effect adds alot. I’ll be applying alot more multiple light sources to my drawings in the future. L8s!

Robot Guy (aka Falcotron)

12 08 2008

3D is a wiked thing but sooo complicated. I started tinkering with 3D in 98 with a liitle app called infiniD on the Mac. This is when I was a big Mac fan. Looking back I don’t know why I was, OS 7.5 or whatever it was sucked donkey balls. Anyway, when I jumped to PC I got my hands on 3D Studio then on to Maya. It’s been a love hate relationship with 3D, but overall I do enjoy results you can potentially get. This guy was created so I can teach my self how to rig joints and all that great stuff. Took awhile to get my head around it and I’m still having issues. I call him Falcotron. It means nothing outside of sounding Japanese robot-ish.

Popped My Cherry Blog

7 08 2008

Weeee my first ever blog post…..hmmm need to say something witty, smart, provoking plus amusing as my opening line and first blog sentence. I got it! I’m BATMAN! Great segway into the introduction of this blog. Drawing, Photography and just random thoughts of stuff. A mixed bag if you will.

Just watched the Dark Knight and thoroughly enjoyed it . I guess I had Batman on the brain yesterday when doodling in PhotoShop, I tend to do that once in awhile. The thing is I usually just delete these doodles – what a shame I know. So I guess I am confessing the true reason why I decided to set up a blog, so I can save my little pre-destined to be deleted doodles, and of course sound off on various things. In any case here is my quick sketch
